And you thought your collection agency was bad. It has been revealed in recent news that an Irish gangland boss has found a new calling- debt collection. This criminal progidy has been associated with twelve deaths; a threat even more looming than a collections letter.
It is imperitive that debt collectors respect your privacy. According to the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, collection agencies cannot exchange information about debtors. They can’t send out a list of people who owe money to its creditor subscribers. They cannot advertise a debt for sale, or compile a list of debtors to its creditor subscribers.
With consumer debt at an all time high, having a debt can be overwhelming. Some people have looked into the internet and have seen advertisements promising debt relief as a quick solution. Enticing as these ads may seem, it is important to be on the lookout for the validity of the claim.
Everyone seems to be “going green” right now and collection companies are now following suit. Agencies such as Pacific Northwest Collections are now eliminating paper files and instead are using a piece of software called Document Locater. The shift from paper to paperless has benefited the company in many ways.
It appears as though the music industry has found a new strategy to cash in on royalties. As music lovers are well aware, at first these companies tried to sue individual users for illegally downloading music. But it is painfully clear that this approach to recover from major financial loss has destroyed their image in the public eye.
