Don’t Just Sit At Home

Getting older isn’t about staying at home and keeping warm. Keeping active for as long as possible is the key to a long healthy life that will be enjoyable.

Exercise is always important. Whether it’s going for a walk or buying yourself an exercise machine for home low impact exercise, keeping your joints moving is a very good thing. Even just sitting in your chair and shaking and stretching your arms and legs will get the blood flowing and your joints moving. Just don’t push things beyond your capabilities.

But what do you do if you do find yourself with very poor mobility. However, don’t imagine that this means you’re doomed to a sedentary life. If you have problems getting in and out of your chair then using a rise and recline chair can be perfect for you. That way you don’t have to feel like you’re stuck in your chair until someone helps you out of it sometime later.

If you find yourself being stuck at home more than you’d like and you know that your legs are never going to carry you far then a mobility scooter will have you nipping around your neighbourhood along with quick trips to the shops. If you like going to visit further a field then consider looking at folding mobility scooters which you can pop in a car. Just fold it and take it with you.

Getting around doesn’t just keep your body active it also keeps you mind active as well. Meeting people, going to new places as well as old haunts will help you avoid depression, a common problem amongst the older population. Nothing lifts the spirits like going out on a nice warm sunny day even for just a little while. It’s very much a case of making the best of your life.
