Matching Jeans And Footwear – Information & Advice
Jeans go with just about anything and have long been a staple of men’s fashion. However, sometimes choosing footwear to match them can be tricky. Not only does the color of your shoes need to match the color of your jeans, but also whatever shirt and jacket you are wearing. Style is another big concern. The following guide can help you wisely choose the footwear you pair with your jeans.
Do not slip on those old gym sneakers with your faded jeans. Though a popular look in the early ’90′s, this is one style that has not made a comeback. Men’s fashion has developed a more refined look, and ratty old sneakers and jeans just are not up to snuff. If you do not want to be considered a shabby dresser, then restrict your gym shoes to the gym.
Street sneakers, however, work well with a casual outfit and jeans. Sneakers that are suede or have a leather look to them that either lace up or use velcro are good, and they do differ quite significantly from gym sneakers.
Loafers are another good choice for footwear, they look good with button-down shirts. Because loafers have a more dressy look to them they are good for a variety of events and situations, but since they slip on they are still comfy and casual.
Whether you are going with a sneaker or a loafer look never pair light-colored shoes with dark-colored denim jeans. Wear black or brown shoes with dark jeans and save the lighter shoes for lighter jeans. Your shoes should match the color and tone of your jeans, it is much more flattering and fashionable that way.
In the warmer months flip flops and sandals can look good with jeans. Though wearing full-length jeans with sandals can be a poor choice, especially since the hem will touch the ground. If you do not want the hem of your jeans to fray or you do not want to look too sloppy make sure your jeans are not too long or wear a cropped style. This look also goes well with t-shirts.
Jeans and boots just seem made for each other. Pair a great set of dress or casual ankle boots with your jeans and you have an instant classic. A good pair of dark brown or beige suede boots with a leather or corded jacket is always a good winter look. Do not wear your work boots unless you are at work.
